Hollis Demasters: i would keep taking it back and insist you payed them to do it right and fix the problem so they need to get it right
Antonette Shappy: This an ultra common question and the real answer is what exactly were you told?First of all keep in mind that a diagnostic charge is totally separate from a repair charge. The nature of some diagnostics may require multiple steps, but you should be made fully aware at each stage of what's being done and why.It is fully possible that a correct diagnoses was done and a genuinely faulty part was replaced that was part of the problem, but that part may have been masking a problem of another part, which could not have been found until the first part was replaced. In this case an additional diagnostics charge AND an additional repair charge would be completely fair. The tech should make you aware of his/her steps (in terms that you can understand easily) that were taken to get to where you are now, and they should have war! ned you of possible additional diagnostics or repairs that may be need, explaining their thought process along the way.By keeping you fully informed and having you agree or disagree at each stage these questions would never arise....Show more
Charissa Riley: if this is really a rework, then you don't have to pay for more. if another cause was discovered, then you pay for it. a good repair shop usually will exhaust all possible causes of a specific car problem, not just what the owner thinks or suspects. there are more factors or possible causes or contributors to a car problem if the car is already old and NOT properly maitained.
Shaquita Wernicki: If you take a car to a repair shop and they diagnose and repair but the problem persists. You are entitled to a refund. I have had this problem in the past . One shop owner claimed the repair/ parts were needed even though didn't fix my specific problem. I told him we could let California Bureau of auto repair settl! e the dispute. He immediately agreed to remove the unnecessary! parts and issue a refund. Another shop did a repair which didn't fix my problem . I requested a refund and he informed me that his mechanic wouldn't be paid for his work and he had childern that wouldn't be fed and clothed, all lies of course! Can you believe any adult would act like that. I informed him of the state law and the problem went away. Some of these mechanic's are as sleazy as auto sales people....Show more
Edmund Rappley: if you payed for a diagnostic, and it was wrong then you shouldn't be charged for a second diagnostic if your not happy get a refund and get a second opinion we as technicians we are not perfect, sometimes we are over loaded with work or rushed or diagnostic equipment fails, just as it could happen at a hospital or dentist, and maybe you diagnose one problem to find out it has two problems but you have to address one at a time it happens but we try to be fair as technicians as for the service writer then that's a different department,if yo! ur not happy then address that with the person who you talked to initially or his manager or worse the owner....Show more
Norris Rosener: take it back and talk to the mechanic who worked on it and make sure he is seeing same problem you are there is sometimes a comunication gap between customer and mechanic and he should be able to fix it then but as far as paying you will probably have to since whatever they did the first time was probably bad anyways
Leora Klingelhoets: Any time you take a car to a shop to diagnose a problem with a car they will fix what they think is the problem and send you on your way.If the problem is still persistent you could talk to the service manager to try to plead your case but for the most part you will have to pay for the service that they do to the car.Trying to figure out a problem with a car is like a doctor try to figure out what is wrong with a patient they just keep plugging along till they find what is wrong. But still char! ge you for it....Show more
